Why Distance Learning (DL) Fails: DL vs Globalization |

Dr Damith Wickramanayake - University of Technology Jamaica, addressed those present at the CSSL pubic lecture organized by e-learning Special Iterest Group on 15th August 2008.
He is currently teaching at the University of Technology (Jamaica), School Of Computing & Information Technology as a full time faculty member and Distance Learning Coordinator, while also teaching part time at the Jamaica Institute of Management (JIM) and the Institute of Management & Production (IMP). The audience made of both professionals and interested parties were enlightened on the different avenues by which countries such as Sri Lanka, India and Jamaica to which DL helps Americans and Europeans to sell beautiful Degree Certificates. This make 3rd world countries poorer, draining their hard earned money, to buy products called " Foreign degrees". which have good marketable value in 3rd world countries, but of ZERO Qualitative value. The seminar concluded with a question and answer session. The Computer Society of Sri Lanka is appreciative of Dr Damith Wickramanayake who spared his vauable time to keep us well informed of the different aspects of Distance Learning. |
